For indie hackers
A support tool priced for one person, not a support org
The recurring complaint on Indie Hackers isn't that support tools lack features — it's the bill after the intro rate ends on a per-seat plan built for teams. Scitor doesn't have seats: $0/$9/$19 a month, whether it's just you or you bring on help later.
Per-seat pricing assumes a support team you don't have
A per-agent helpdesk is built around the idea that "agents" is a headcount number that grows with your support org. As a solo founder, you're the entire support org — one seat, for now, maybe two if a co-founder or contractor helps out later. Paying a per-agent premium designed for a 20-person team's growth curve doesn't reflect that.
Scitor charges by plan, not by seat: adding a collaborator to your GitHub repo is a permissions change, not a new line item on an invoice.
What a solo founder's setup actually looks like
One repo, one forwarding address, done
Install the GitHub App on a repository you already have (or a new one dedicated to support), forward your support inbox to the address Scitor gives you, and inbound email starts arriving as GitHub Issues. No new dashboard login to onboard yourself into.
You reply from where you already work
Write a comment on the Issue and add /send on its own line — Scitor converts it to HTML and emails the customer. Same GitHub tab you're already using for your product's Issues and PRs, no context switch to a separate app.
A web form for people who don't want to email
Run /create-form on any Issue to generate an embeddable contact form for your landing page — submissions become tickets the same way email does, without you standing up a separate form service.
Upgrade only when the free tier actually runs out
The Free plan covers unlimited inbound email and 100 outbound replies a month at $0. Pro, at $9/month, adds AI triage (sentiment, category, one-line summaries) and a custom sending domain — worth it once you're answering more than a couple dozen tickets a month and want the domain to look like your own.
What this doesn't solve
If your landing page relies on a live chat bubble to catch visitors before they bounce, Scitor's Free and Pro plans don't have one — that's Intercom's actual strength, and it's a real trade-off, not a missing checkbox. The Enterprise plan ($19/month) adds an optional AI chat widget that answers from your docs, but it's not real-time chat with a person, and it's the top tier, not something most solo projects need on day one.
Is this actually for you?
Not every solo project needs this. Here is an honest breakdown.
This is for you if:
- Your team uses GitHub daily
- Your support is primarily email-based
- You are a small SaaS or dev tool company
- You are tired of paying per-agent
- You want AI that understands your codebase
- You're a solo founder or tiny team tired of per-seat math
Not for you if:
- You need phone or live chat
- You handle support across social media
- You have 50+ agents
- Your team does not use GitHub
- A live chat widget on your marketing site is the whole point

Questions indie hackers ask
- I'm the only person on my team — does per-seat pricing even apply to me?
- Not with Scitor — there's no seat count at all. The $0/$9/$19 plans are flat regardless of how many people (including just you) have access to the repository. If you ever bring on a contractor or co-founder, adding them is a GitHub collaborator invite, not a billing event.
- What do I need to get started?
- A GitHub repository with Issues enabled. We recommend a dedicated support repository so your product code stays separate. Install the Scitor GitHub App, and you'll receive a unique email address to forward your support emails to.
- Does Scitor put a chat widget on my landing page like Intercom does?
- Not by default, and not at all on Free or Pro. The Enterprise plan ($19/month) includes an optional embeddable AI chat widget that answers from your docs — it's a documentation bot, not real-time chat with a person, and it's opt-in. Free and Pro are email and web-form intake only.
